Stress Management
How Can Stress Affect You?
Stress is a natural response to pressure, change or demanding situations. In small amounts, it can help us stay focused and get things done. When stress continues for too long or begins to feel unmanageable, it can affect both emotional and physical wellbeing.
You may notice irritability, frustration, tearfulness, low mood, difficulty concentrating, feeling overwhelmed or struggling to switch off. Physical signs can include headaches, muscle tension, stomach discomfort, changes in sleep, tiredness or shortness of breath.
When Should I Seek Support?
It may be helpful to speak with someone when stress begins to affect your relationships, work, sleep, health or ability to enjoy everyday life. You do not need to wait until things reach crisis point before asking for support.
Can Counselling Help with Stress?
Yes. Therapy can help you identify the sources of stress, understand your usual patterns of coping and develop healthier ways of responding to pressure.
Your therapist can work with you to explore both the practical and emotional factors contributing to stress and support you in making changes that feel realistic and manageable.
