Autism

What is Autism?

Autism is a lifelong neurological difference that can shape how a person communicates, processes information, experiences emotions and interacts with the world around them. Every autistic person is different and will have their own strengths, needs and experiences.

Some people may find aspects of a largely neurotypical world overwhelming or difficult to navigate, including social expectations, sensory environments, change or uncertainty.

Can Counselling Support Autistic People?

Yes. Neurodiversity-affirming counselling can offer a safe space to explore your experiences without trying to change or “fix” who you are.

Therapy may support you with anxiety, overwhelm, burnout, self-esteem, relationships, identity, masking or adjusting to a diagnosis. Your therapist can adapt their communication and approach to suit your individual needs and preferences.

How Do I Make an Appointment?

You can explore our therapists’ profiles and contact someone directly, or complete our general enquiry form. A member of The Coping Corner may contact you to learn more about the support you are seeking and help connect you with a suitable therapist.
