Meet Denise O’Flanagan

Psychotherapist & Founder of The Coping Corner

My approach to therapy is warm, authentic and tailored to you. I offer a supportive space where you can show up as you are, without pressure to have everything figured out or to explain yourself perfectly.

I work with people who may be feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, stuck in familiar patterns, unsure of themselves, or finding that past experiences continue to affect how they feel, relate to others or move through everyday life. You may have spent a long time coping, adapting or holding things together, but find that something no longer feels manageable in the same way.

My work often explores relationships, identity and self-worth, trauma, neurodivergence, emotional overwhelm, difficult life experiences, chronic illness and cancer. I take a trauma-informed and neurodivergence-affirming approach, with an understanding that what you are experiencing rarely exists in isolation and may have developed over time.

Together, we can begin to make sense of what is happening beneath the surface noticing patterns, understanding your needs and finding ways of coping that genuinely fit you and your life. Therapy does not have to be about simply managing symptoms; it can also be a space to understand yourself more deeply, develop a stronger sense of who you are, and create meaningful change.

You don’t need to know exactly what you need from therapy before you begin. We can work that out together, at a pace that feels right for you.

The Vision behind the Coping Corner

The Coping Corner grew from a simple idea: therapy should feel approachable, human and grounded.

I wanted to create a space where people don’t feel they need to be on a big “healing journey” or have the right words before they come through the door. Sometimes you just need somewhere to talk, feel understood and get a little support with what life is throwing at you.

From the beginning, my vision was to bring together a diverse group of therapists and create a space where both clients and practitioners feel welcome, supported and connected.
