Domestic Abuse
When a Relationship Feels Unsafe or Controlling
Domestic abuse can take many forms, including emotional, psychological, physical, sexual or financial abuse, as well as coercive or controlling behaviour. It can affect confidence, sense of safety, relationships and day-to-day life.
How Can Therapy Help?
Therapy can offer a confidential, non-judgemental space to talk about what you are experiencing or what you have experienced in the past. It can help you make sense of what has happened, understand the impact it has had on you and begin rebuilding confidence, trust and a sense of safety.
The Coping Corner is not an emergency or crisis service. If you are in immediate danger, contact emergency services or a specialist domestic abuse service for urgent support.
Finding the Right Therapist
Some of our therapists have experience supporting people affected by domestic abuse, coercive control and emotional or psychological abuse. You can view their profiles or send a general enquiry, and we can help connect you with a suitable therapist.
Making an Appointment
Contact a therapist directly through their profile or complete our general enquiry form.
Further Support
Further support is available through specialist domestic abuse services, including Women’s Aid, Drogheda refuge centre and Men’s Aid.
